The biggest story in Caribbean entertainment news today is the epic blind audition by Tessanne Chin on last night’s second episode of NBC’s “The Voice.”Though many fans expected the reggae singer to appear on the season premiere on Monday night, the wait was worth it, when she closed off night two of NBC’s hit vocal competition.
Tessanne’s powerful rendition of Pink’s mega hit, “Try” blew away all four celebrity coaches, the audience and by all means, the entire Caribbean region who tuned in to support the 28-year old.
With her stellar resume as one of the Caribbean’s leading reggae songstresses, having been a background vocalist for the legendary Jimmy Cliff, in addition to an impressive career on her own, Tessanne’s appearance on “The Voice” has shown the world what they’ve been missing!
“This is my first time, on this level, singing a song that’s not reggae,” Tessanne confessed on the show. “I’m going to hold on with two hands and make the most of this opportunity.”
If you watched the live show, then as a Caribbean national you felt a sense of pride and love for Tessanne’s resoundingly amazing performance and even her authentic island accent. Her audition was so riveting that all four celebrity coaches, Christine Aguillera, CeeLo Green, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton turned their chairs. However, it was Adam who was first to declare, “You could easily win The Voice this season.”
