In honor of Black History Month, Brooklyn’s Borough President, Hon. Eric L. Adams, sat down with award-winning Caribbean podcaster Jay Blessed in a rare conversation on his prismatic personal life, controversial career as a 22-year NYPD veteran, challenging political rise and his passionate pursuit to being Eric Adams, NYC’s next Mayor!

Despite the traumatic experience of being innocently arrested and beaten by cops at 15 years old, along with his younger brother, Adams chose to become an NYPD officer to be the change he wanted to see in his community. Since then he has used his voice and service as a form of therapy.

Though some might consider him pugnacious, controversial and a firebrand, Adams shares that his dedication towards being a rebellious public servant has been deeply rooted in disrupting and correcting unfair, unjust and unhealthy societal norms.
