Last month, I had the honor of being part of an “Intimate Discussion on Mental Health In The Caribbean” during the inaugural Socamom Summit.

The two-day virtual summit focused on Caribbean and Caribbean-American women and took place on April 11th and 12th, 2020. This first of its kind event featured 50 women from 17 countries in 20 sessions; covering medicine, technology, business, arts & culture, parenting, mental health and more.

Since we are still in May and the focus is on Mental Health Awareness, I wanted to highlight my SocaMom Summit session with you.

Check out the “Intimate Discussion on Mental Health In The Caribbean” panel, hosted by SocaMom, Eva GreenWilson with Seneca Williams and yours truly, Jay Blessed.

Special shout out to fellow Socamom Summit member, award-winning multimedia journalist, Melissa Noel for promoting the first ever SocaMom Summit during this WENY news segment. WATCH HERE.

My favorite sessions from The SocaMom Summit

This was my most favorite session of the entire summit. Not only because Dr. Cindy Duke is a regular on my IN MY HEAD with Jay Blessed podcast but because Mama Coco is a dynamic force who raised a globally recognized actor and world-renowned doctor! She is 100% island woman and fearlessly explains how she did it all, as a single mother!

Natalie Greaves, Bee Quammie and Adanna Dill collectively discussed how to keep children thinking positively and how to help them find security and stability in their Caribbean roots. Check out their session.
