REVIEW: Bounty vs Beenie Best Verzuz Of All Time! #BountyvsBeenie
SHARE THIS STORY:

Caribbean people can go on record to proudly declare that #BountyvsBeenie was the best Verzuz battle of all time!

The Caribbean showed up in full force to let the world know just how powerful we are! Unless Biggie and Tupac came back from the dead to clash, I can’t think of any other Verzuz battle that can top what Bounty Killer and Beenie Man accomplished last night. The energy, the vibes, the hits, the respect, the unity, the GROWN MAN shit!

#BountyvsBeenie was fellowship.

#BountyvsBeenie was culture.

#BountyvsBeenie was medicine.

#BountyvsBeenie Verzuz Review

I am no dancehall historian. I may not even remember the name of every riddim and may even refer to the name of a song by the chorus. But one thing I have perfected is reading and feeling energy. Last night was culture. Last night was magical. Last night was spiritual. Last night was fellowship. Last night was hope revived. Last night was a joyous experience that served us medicine for our souls.

Bounty Killer and Beenie Man was tasked with a battle and came out with a unification concert of mammoth proportions and divine results!

#BountyvsBeenie was powerful on so many levels and should really be immortalized in a future Harvard University lecture or UWI course.

For decades we’ve exalted Beenie Man as the Girls Dem Suga and Bounty Killer as The Warlord, The General, The Poor People’s Governor, but last night we held a vibes with Moses Davis and Rodney Price.

Beenie Man’s belly can rival any pregnant woman but he can still tek yuh gyal and Bounty Killer might buss guns but he is still a black man that runs from police. We even saw these two titans fan out when Rihanna showed up! Riri, yuh see me me!” *insert Bounty voice*

As much as we’ve known them to be global greats, they really are just regular dudes with extraordinary gifts and talents.

Even Jamaica’s Prime Minister Andrew Holness was inna de dance!

From beginning to end, this was such an authentic Jamaican bashment party….AND I LIVED FOR EVERY MINUTE OF IT! Witnessing two Grammy award-winning Caribbean Kings spread love in such a hysterically funny, deeply profound and spiritually connected way.

Right after the Verzuz event, I published my very raw review on IG HERE and this morning I posted my sober Facebook Live HERE.

Dancehall Queen Sharon waz dere!

Definition of cool = Jamaican

Jamaicans just do things differently. Seriously! For this reason, everyone in the world wants to align themselves with what they have to offer like Reggae and Dancehall music, for every thing Jamaica does is iconic. Bounty Killer and Beenie Man’s live Verzuz battle proved that!

They set the trends. They are afraid of no one….not even Police or ‘Rona!

"Do you want to be that guy" asks Beenie Man when the Jamaican police briefly stopped the Verzuz #BountyvsBeenie live. Bounty disappeared for a moment.

“Only In Jamaica” #BountyvsBeenie

#BOUNTYvsBEENIE epitomized the power of Caribbean people, their music and their influence. “We likkle but we tallawah!”

This clash was so epic, even CNN had to cover the story!

Who else can start an IG battle late; assuage their fans with an early warm with TWO DJs; start with the National anthem; rinse tune pon tune – hit pon hit; get interrupted by the police then send the police home; bring out dancers; figuratively say “suck yuh mudda” to social distancing and “f@ck off” to the Coronavirus; put down musical guns to hug up each other; bless us with a prayer and close off a clash with Bob Marley?

Caribbean people are so freaking special. We are the salt of the earth. We are the COOL factor! We taught your favorites what cool is and should be! We are forever copied, sample and replicated. WE ARE ORIGINALS!

Last night though, in the battle of Bounty vs Beenie – the Caribbean won!

Honorable mention to Digicel….THANK YOU!!!!!
