Grammy and Tony award-winning Heather Headley returns to the stage with her latest album, “Broadway My Way.”

After 15 years since her last studio album, the acclaimed Trinidadian-born songstress and actress is set to release her fifth album, produced by Paul Mills with executive producer, Chris Thomason.

Broadway My Way is Headley’s heartfelt 9-track homage to her Broadway roots, which includes tracks “Somewhere Over the Rainbow,” “All the Man that I Need” and “Can You Feel the Love Tonight.”

“I often hear songs from Broadway with which I fall in love. Songs I want to “try on” as if they were dresses in someone else’s closet. But like any beautiful dress (even ones I’ve worn before), sometimes, it needs a little tailoring to fit its wearer: a little hemming in here, a little release there, a little addition here and there…. But when it does fit, you want to share it with the world. So, here I am, “trying on” these beautiful songs. Incredibly aware of, and indebted to the legends who have worn them so perfectly before. This project is not just for a Broadway audience, however, it’s for all of you. And so, I thank you for allowing me to be apart of your musical worlds: whether gospel, pop, R&B, or Broadway. Thank you for joining me on the journey. And thank you for letting me do it…My Way,” Headley wrote on her website.

  2. “For Good”
  3. “In the Stars” Medley

  5. “My House”
  6. “Home”
  7. “All the Man that I Need”

Headley debuted on Broadway in the role of Nala in the original Broadway cast of The Lion King. Elton John and Tim Rice chose her to star in their musical collaboration, Aida, a role that won her the 2000 Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical, in addition to the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Actress in a Musical. She released her debut album, This Is Who I Am, in 2002, followed up with In My Mind in 2006 and won the Grammy for her 2009 album, Audience of One. In 2012, she release her fourth album Only One In The World and made her London stage debut in the West End production of “The Bodyguard,” earning her an Olivier Award nomination.

During her breaking from starring on Broadway, I had the pleasure of seeing her in her riveting supportive role of Shug Avery in The Color Purple back in 2016. Every one needs a break to live, breathe and enjoy their life and family. I am thrilled to see Heather relaxed, revived and back in her creative element!

The official release date for Broadway My Way has not been announced, however, fans can purchase the album exclusively at her solo concerts schedule for Philadelphia, Brooklyn and Boston.

See Heather perform on Thursday, November 1st at 8pm at the Brooklyn’s legendary Kings Theater. Tickets can be purchased HERE.
