JayBlessed.com History

2012 JayBlessed.com Flyer: Winart Foster

Created in March 2011 and officially launched in April of that year, JayBlessed.com grew to immeasurable online and offline success. Formerly known as “The Queen of Caribbean Entertainment News and Gossip,” Jay Blessed earned the respect and loyalty of readers in over 200 countries, who logged on to her eponymous website for all things Caribbean. Similar to TMZ, JayBlessed.com broke many important, controversial and relevant celebrity and regional news. A leading voice at that time, and a Caribbean blogging pioneer in her own right, Jay Blessed carved an international name for herself and her website.

Jay Blessed left her life as a blogger, on her own terms, at the height of her success. In an interview with the Trinidad Guardian written by Bobbie Lee Dixon, Jay discussed her reasons for walking away from blogging, admitting that, “My daily place of refuge and joy, where I could create original content and share network stories with my readership…had slowly transformed into my source of anxiety, fatigue and depression.” In another interview published on Essence Magazine in April 2015, the Caribbean immigrant would highlight her battle with depression and PTSD. Instead of hiding in shame and fear of being stigmatized, Jay has since chosen to use her voice and transparency of her mental wellness journey with her friends on her social networks.

When she departed from the Caribbean entertainment blogosphere, no one was able to replicate the work she produced and at the level, consistency and virality as her loyal readers grew to recognize and appreciate. It is clear to state that Jay made an imprint on her Caribbean community by being a voice of reason, reliability and respect. Not just limited to a writer, Jay has been an instrumental player in New York City’s Caribbean business, entertainment and cultural sectors.

In the absence of JayBlessed.com, her company Jay Blessed Media has been working nationally with corporate brands, major events and small businesses assisting with their digital voice; helping to create brand messaging and content, as well as hands on assistance for some of the world’s leading companies.

With a passion for her Caribbean people and culture, Jay is bringing back her entertainment blog with a higher agenda, a reinvented YouTube channel, engaging and life-changing podcasts and pivotal partnerships. Jay Blessed has also taken on the task of using her platform to bring positivity and healing, by discussing and uncovering issues that deeply affect the diaspora but is often disregarded or blatantly ignored. As a writer, mental health advocate, youth activist, public speaker, voice-over and on-air talent and mother of a teenager, Jay intends to use her experiences and quest for knowledge to bring powerful change within her Caribbean community.

JayBlessed.com relaunched it’s online and digital platforms in October 2018.
