Caribbean Artists Nominated For 2019 GRAMMY Awards Inside…

The music world is abuzz about the 2019 nominations for the 61st Grammy Awards.

Before the full list was revealed on this morning (Dec 7th) on Grammy.com. Alessia Cara – 2018 Best New Artist winner, Apple Music host Zane Lowe, Janelle Monae and Shawn Mendes made the televised announcement of select categories on CBS This Morning.


Beyonce, who many believed – including Adele – that her Lemonade album was snubbed for Album of The Year to Adele will not get a chance to avenge that loss. Jay-Z and Beyonce’s “Everything Is Love” album was snubbed for Album and Record of The Year categories. Kanye was also snubbed for major categories. And finally we won’t be seeing Taylor Swift win another Album Of The Year!

We will be watching to see if 2018’s darling, Cardi B, takes home at least one golden trophy. Cardi B has received five nominations, including Best Rap Album, Best Rap Performance, Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, Album of the Year and Song of the Year.

Honorable mention to “Best Musical Theater Album” nominee,  “Once on this Island”- a one-act musical by Lynn Ahrens and music by Stephen Flaherty. Based on the 1985 novel My Love, My Love; or, The Peasant Girl by Rosa Guy, is set in the French Antilles archipelago in the Caribbean Sea.
