The Sun Is Also a Star is an upcoming American drama film directed by Ry Russo-Young. The film is based on the young adult novel of the same name written by Nicola Yoon, and stars Yara Shahidi (Blackish, Grownish) as Natasha Kingsley alongside Charles Melton (AHS, Riverdale) as Daniel Bae.
Nicola Yoon is a Jamaican-American author. She is best known for her other written work, 2015 New York Times best seller, “Everything, Everything” that was also turned into a 2017 film of the same name.
The Sun Is Also a Star will center on a spur of the moment love that happens between characters Daniel Bae (Charles) and Natasha Kingsley (Yara), and is sure to be as much a tearjerker as the novel, which features an all-too-timely threat of deportation.
