ICYMI, Rihanna donated 4,000 tablets to the children of Barbados, to aid in their remote learning caused by the COVID-19 global pandemic.

The Barbadian Ambassador was graciously thanked by Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley for her generous donation via a video posted on Twitter.

Prime Minister Mottley tweeted: “Thank you to our Ambassador Robyn ‘Rihanna’ Fenty @rihanna and her Clara Lionel Foundation @ClaraLionelFdn as well as Jack Dorsey’s Start Small Foundation for their generous contribution of 4,000 tablets for the students of Barbados. We are so appreciative of all their work.”

The tablets were a gift from Rihanna’s Clara Lionel Foundation in partnership with Twitter co-founder and CEO Jack Dorsey’s Start Small Foundation.

“Education is the most important gift that we can give any child, and to the extent that we can ensure that there is no digital divide between among all of our children that is our duty,” said Mottley.

She added: “Robyn, as usual, thank you. Your Bajanness, your commitment to this country, your commitment to this region in the context of building climate resilience has not gone unnoticed. The world has watched you be that extraordinary Bajan, that extraordinary global citizen that has not forgotten that their roots are right here in Barbados.”

Prior to the 4,000 tablets she donated, Rihanna also donated $5 million in a bid to help relieve the coronavirus pandemic, in addition to ventilators to Barbados.
