With public pressure on Biden to pick a black woman as his running mate, this announcement surely secures the black vote, if not, the black female vote.

Kamala Harris becomes the first black woman, first Indian American and first Jamaican American to be selected as a U.S.. Vice Presidential nominee.
Born October 20th, 1964 – Harris is the first generation American daughter of Shyamala Gopalan, a breast cancer scientist, who immigrated from India to attend a doctoral program at UC Berkeley.
Harris is also the daughter of Donald Harris, a Stanford University Emeritus Professor of Economics, who emigrated from Jamaica in 1961 for graduate study in economics at UC Berkeley.
Kamala Harris is a a proud graduate of Howard University, a California Senator and the former Attorney General of California.
According to Wikipedia, as a senator, she has supported healthcare reform, federal descheduling of cannabis, a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants, the DREAM Act, a ban on assault weapons, and progressive tax reform. She gained a national profile for her pointed questioning of Trump administration officials during Senate hearings, including U.S. Attorneys General Jeff Sessions and William Barr, and Associate Justice nominee Brett Kavanaugh
Harris initially ran as a Democratic Presidential candidate but ended her campaign on December 3, 2019.
