Bodybuilding is not for the faint of heart and certainly not for those with no discipline or dedication to the art.

After failing to take the title home seven years in a row, on the eight attempt, Jamaican-reppin’ Shawn “Flexatron” Rhoden knocked off Phil Heath to become Mr. Olympia.

Shawn “Flexatron” Rhoden amazing transformation.

Rhoden flexed his impeccably conditioned and defined muscles to victory, securing bodybuilding’s most coveted Eugen Sandow Trophy, mere months after withdrawing from the Arnold Classic back in February. Rhoden’s first-place prize was reportedly $400,000. However, according to BleacherReport.com, Rhoden’s top prize actually  totaled, $675,000 – the largest in the 53-year history of the Mr. Olympia competition. Not too bad for a man who stayed consistent and never gave up on his dreams.

Check out sports photographer Chris Nicoll‘s amazing shots of Rhoden’s beautiful symmetry and perfect lines…

Born in Jamaica, Rhoden started to train as a bodybuilding when he immigrated to the U.S. back in 1990. He is now added to the list of famous bodybuilders to hold the title, including Lee Haney, Ronnie Coleman and Arnold Schwarzenegger. On that victorious September night in Las Vegas, Rhoden also shattered Heath’s attempt to win his eighth consecutive title. .

At 43, Rhoden is tied as the oldest Mr. Olympia with Chris Dickerson, who won in 1982.
