Sneaker heads, Naomi Osaka has teamed up with Nike and Comme des Garçons for her first shoes, dropping this November.
The 22-year-old Haitian-reppin’ tennis champ has been a Nike brand ambassador since April 2019, and is presently ranked number one by the Women’s Tennis Association.

Osaka revealed her latest collaboration via an Instagram post, featuring her debut collection in a series of artistic portrait-style shots.
According to FootwearNews, “Instead of a smooth leather, the upper is fitted with canvas and the suede mudguards and toe caps contrast the texture. Laid across the shoe is a block font with the words “COMME des GARCONS” and “Naomi Osaka” printed repeating. Osaka has signed her name on her pair and even added “Home is where the heart is” across on side.”

Outside of making new money moves, Osaka has also been using her champion status towards leading her sport into a social justice work stoppage.
According to NYT, Naomi Osaka won her semifinal match on Friday Aug. 28th in the Western & Southern Open, a match she was willing to forfeit to spark a broader conversation in the tennis world about racism.
The U.S. Open, which began August 31st, is presently underway at the Winged Foot Golf Club in Mamaroneck, N.Y, without on-site fans – for the first ever due to COVID-19.
The U.S. Open Championship continues through Sept. 13.
