JAY’S THOUGHTS: Stop Posting Videos of Little Girls Wining!

The Over-Sexualization of Young Girls

I’m tired of seeing videos of grown adults hyping and cheering on little children being sexually suggestive.

Now before y’all try to come for me with the nonsense, there is a difference between wining and being sexual. The rhythmic oscillation and rotation of one’s waistline to our soca, salsa, kompa and calypso is vastly different to something simulating a sex scene. I have no issues with seeing a child sway, roll and even leh go a respectable grind versus dry humping reminiscent to strip club behavior. Y’all know the difference, so please don’t feign ignorance! Wining doesn’t have to be raunchy. The sad thing about seeing children on camera engaged in the sexual side of this activity, is that most of our young children do not even know that they are being raunchy or lewd because the adults in their lives encourage them in this behavior.

The video below  of Kamarley “Da Big Show” Simpson  went viral a few years ago, with millions of hits worldwide and I’m not going to lie, I gave small man his props! His parents okay-ed the release and major celebrities were reposting and applauding his wining skills. It’s evident that at this age, he is merely demonstrating what he has been taught. Now, if he was dancing on a little girl like this, I would definitely have had a problem. But ‘low de youth man. Kamarley is an aspiring soca singer and performer.

Please don’t get my message confused. I have no problem with our children knowing how to wine and having fun. It’s part of their culture. My issue is when culture morphs into unintentional solicitation. Pedophiles run amok in the islands but the internet has now become a safe haven for child predators and sex offenders to get their daily high with millions of videos circulating with faces of identifiable children.

How would you feel to know that some strange nasty man is jerking himself off to a video of your little daughter or niece or son dancing in a suggestive manner? If this sounds farfetched, then y’all are blinder than I thought! YES – SOME MAN (or even woman!) is out there BEATING THEIR MEAT OFF doing immoral things to a viral video of a little girl shaking her ass, doing splits and making her tiny booty clap. Yet somehow y’all thought this was cute? Who the hell thinks that filming this and posting this is entertainment???

Long are the days when as a child you were taught how to wine just to ensure you had rhythm. It’s cultural. This is acceptable. It’s normal. But what’s happening now is a travesty. Our children are losing their innocence at younger and younger ages. We are teaching our little girls from young ages the art of seduction, how to use their bodies for attention and applause, and how to indirectly lure men in with body tricks. Take a look at these teens during Labor Day 2018.

I once came across a video of a little girl innocently wining and then a GROWN MAN came up behind her and started wining his nasty front on her little behind.

Now let’s further explore this for a second:

We should never blame a child for a pervert’s behavior. It is not a child’s fault that a pervert is attracted to them. But it is OUR RESPONSIBILITY to shelter and protect them from such vultures.

1. We must empower our children with knowledge of inappropriate touching and the behavior of perverts.
2. We must gain their trust so that they feel comfortable alerting and sharing such experiences with us – their parents and guardians.
3. We must teach them how to TRUST THEIR INSTINCTS.

We should never encourage our girls in acts that blur the lines of what’s normal from abnormal and what’s safe from what’s potentially dangerous. Wining is normal. A grown man wining on a little girl’s ass is not! We must protect our girls and not make them targets by posting videos of them online engaging in suggestive scenarios for the world to judge and misjudge. In this digital age, we have a moral responsibility to preserve the innocence and privacy of children. In my time, my errors and mistakes as a child were never front and center on someone’s Facebook page or shared in Whatsapp groups. Once it’s shared on the internet, you can’t control where it goes nor can you remove it.

A normal cultural pastime and rite of passage such as wining is now being overly sexualized and advertised on the internet, over-exposing our little girls and boys to sex offenders and robbing them of the protection we owe them by not violating their privacy.

Again the title of this post is: Stop Posting Videos of Little Girls Wining! We can include boys as well, however, the most outrageous and questionable videos I’ve seen circulating are of little girls.

I won’t share any videos as examples for I feel I’d be a co-conspirator in child pornography. However, I’m sure you’ll can find one popping up daily in your newsfeeds, and when they do pop up, report the video. Make them take it down!

Before I go, ponder on these questions:

Can we please allow our children to be children?
Can we please teach our children culture without it being sexualized?
Can we please remove them from within earshot of adult conversations?
Can we please stop watching Rated R television shows with our little children?
Can we please stop laughing and giggling and taping when children are being rude, obscene and vulgar?

Unless you are being a responsible guardian who explains what’s being said, seen or done and the reason behind such activity, please just let little children live in their innocence for as long as they can.

Alright, enough with the heavy stuff. Take a smile before you go…

I’m off my soap box for today.
