The Navy has been nagging Queen Rihanna on when she will be releasing new music!

The wait for her next album feels like eternity for most fans, since her last album – platinum-selling ‘Anti’ was released 2 years and nine months ago. (Don’t judge me!) Her fans have been so busy playing her old classic music that she is now the first female artist ever, to surpass TWO BILLION streams on Apple Music!

The 30 year old pop star, actress, entrepreneur, philanthropist and Ambassador (jeez, you can see why she hasn’t dropped new music yet!) has been busy saving the world, one Fenty Beauty product at a time – all while living her life – unapologetically! But for months now, word on the street has been that Rhi is working on a major reggae album.

According to Rolling Stone, a number of sources have stated that RihRih will be releasing a reggae-centric album. One dancehall producer source is quoted as saying: “[Rihanna’s team] have, no lie, 500 records for this project [from] different producers and writers.”

It’s been rumored that Rihanna is actually working on two albums; a more commercial pop offering and an island vibe / reggae work. She’s always showcased her island roots in her music, like in Work featuring Drake, which has been viewed 1 billion times! Reports also state it might be a double-disc album. Whatever occurs, we know for sure a reggae album is in the works because Rihanna confirmed it in her June 2018 cover interview for VOGUE.

Here’s a throwback to Rihanna’s 2010 reggae hit, Man Down

Rihanna’s ninth studio album (or R9 according to the Navy) will definitely have serious Caribbean heavy hitters! The year+ old secret project will be allegedly narrowed down to about 10 songs, with input from some of reggae’s best producers like Supa Dups, Stephen “Di Genius” McGregor, “TJ Records,” Ricky Blaze and R. City.

According to Breathe Heavy, at the end of 2017, the star registered two new songs on ASCAP; “Only One Who Knows” and “Phatty” – written by Rihanna and Mark Myrie, aka reggae legend, Buju Banton.

Rumors are also circulating that Cardi B might also appear on R9.

Will Rhi pull a Beyonce stunt and just unexpectedly drop the album on us – sending the world into hysteria? Will it be released in 2018? 2019? Jeez! Keep your edges laid and your hair secured people, I have a feeling Rihanna will snatch edges when she finally releases her work.
