The man whose famous quotes include “George Bush hates black people” and “slavery was a choice” was last seen in the Caribbean. Yes, Kanye West left Jamaica last Friday to visit the world’s first republic, Haiti.

Kanye Visits Buju In Jamaica

Before rubbing shoulders with President Jovenel Moise in Haiti, Kanye and Roc Nation Exec Kareem “Biggs” Burke made a quick visit to Kingston, for a meeting with Reggae legend Buju Banton.

According to Jamaican music producer Donovan Germain, “a collaboration with the two Grammy-winning artistes was indeed on the cards.”

“Buju did a song with him earlier in the year. It hasn’t come out yet. But, they have been in dialogue,” Germain said about the project, according to Jamaica Observer.

Many Jamaican locals have accused of breaking COVID-19 protocols after photos surfaced of him without a face mask with Buju Banton.

The local newspaper also shared that this was not West’s first visit to the island. Last year October, he held one of his pop-up Sunday Service at Emancipation Park in New Kingston. It is reported he spent US$1 million to host the event.

Kanye West Surprise Visit To Haiti

No one was more hyped than Haiti’s President Moise, who tweeted: “I’m with famous American rapper Kanye West who just arrived in the country to visit Labadee and l’Ile de la Tortue. I wish him a great visit.”

Absent from Kanye’s jet-setting was his wife, Kim Kardashian. Kim was last in Haiti on a philanthropic visit back in 2011. The couple is rumored to be separated.

“Haiti is where our people started the first revolution that freed us from slavery,” Kanye tweeted. He also tweeted the pic below…

Kanye and Naomi Osaka In Haiti

Kanye’s visit to Haiti coincided with U.S. Open champ, Naomi Osaka. The tennis phenom, whose father is Haitian and mother is Japanese, is presently filming a Netflix documentary on her life. She also visited the seaside town of Jacmel, home of her Osaka Foundation. Osaka will be sitting out the French Open, as she nurses a left hamstring injury.

The purpose of Kanye’s visits to these Caribbean countries have not been disclosed.
