ICYMI: The world is yet again talking about tennis phenom Namoi Osaka.

Fresh off winning the US Grand Slam title five months ago, Osaka took home the 2019 Australian Open title, “defeating three Top 10 players to become the first woman in nearly 18 years to win her first two majors titles back-to-back.”

If that wasn’t life-changingly exciting or inspiring enough, 21-year old Osaka has also successfully climbed the list to be the #1 on the Women’s Tennis Association ranking!

Peep her Good Morning America interview as she reveled in her back-to-back Grand Slam titles…

At 21 years old, Naomi is defying the odds as she perseveres towards making her biggest dreams come through, and for that reason we are crushing on her!

5 Reasons Why Naomi Osaka Is Sports Bae!

  1. She’s A Champ:  Naomi is the current US Open and Australian Open champion in women’s singles, and No. 1 in the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) rankings, which she achieved in January 2019. (Wiki.)
  2. Humility: Naomi appears graceful yet awkwardly shy most times. She reminds us that you can be at the top of your game and still be a humble, down to earth, awkwardly reserved badass – while raking in historic endorsement deals and being yourself!
  3. Hair Goals: Have you seen her thick and beautiful tresses? Seriously…how she manages to comb, detangle and let her hair down has to be as challenging and frustrating as beating Serena at the U.S. Open. A ponytail is a ponytail. A victory is a victory!
  4. Libra: Just like Serena Williams (Sept 26), Naomi also falls under the Libra sign (Oct 16). There’s something super magical about Libra women – they are extremely gifted, multi-talented, seekers of justice and all that is fair, passionately loving and well…beautiful – inside out! Libras are ruled by Venus – Venus rules art, beauty and most of all, love. Google Libra women and find yourself one! 😉
  5. Proud Haitian: She reps her Haitian heritage unapologetically. Naomi has even, on record, corrected those seeming to omit her ancestry in interviews. She is the daughter of a Japanese mother and Haitian father and was born in Japan. Her most recent trip to Haiti after her US Open win was a tremendous boost to the nation’s positive visibility.

Let’s lift our sis up and pray she makes the trifecta with a French Open win!
