Fresh off the release of his long anticipated, first album in a decade “Upside Down,” and all the press that goes with it – Gargamel has added yet another jewel to his crown. Buju Banton has just won the 2020 Jamaica Festival Song Competition!

Buju Banton is the winner of the 2020 Jamaica Festival Song Competition.

Buju’s patriotic entry “I am a Jamaican” succeeded amongst 250 participants that included Freddie McGregor, Toots and Maytals and Nazzleman.

According to the Jamaican Gleaner: “The Grammy winner walked away with the $3 million prize and suggested that his charity would be a beneficiary.

“The true winner tonight is the Sunbeam Boys’ Home,” said as he received his symbolic cheque.
