The World Travel Awards Grand Final Gala and 25th Anniversary Ceremony was held over the weekend in Lisbon, Portugal, with Jamaica emerging as the big winners from the Caribbean.
The WTA Grand Tour is an annual search for the finest travel and tourism organizations in the world, with the winners of WTA’s six regional ceremonies going head-to-head for the coveted World titles at the ceremony.
Jamaica copped the coveted World’s Leading Beach Destination and World’s Leading Cruise Destination for 2018. Also nabbing, World’s Leading Luxury Hotel Villa, World’s Leading Villa Resort, World’s Leading All-inclusive Company, World’s Leading Family Resort Brand, World’s Leading Caribbean Attraction Company and World’s Leading Adventure Tour Operator. This is the highest number of global awards won by Jamaica.
Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett and Jamaica Tourist Board’s (JTB) Chairman, John Lynch were present at the Gala to receive the awards, where he stated, “I am truly proud to have been able share in this moment which highlights that Jamaica’s tourism product is of the highest quality and remains top of mind for millions of visitors who come to our shore. Jamaica competed with the best of the best across the globe and has emerged a global winner acknowledged for the hard work and innovation being done in the sector.”
